These guys helped me out greatly with their sound work for my films. So it was my turn to help them out.

The guys in the band have these fictional characters as their stage personas, so I made them in a science fiction fashion. Of course with a cartoony twist.

At first:

Then we went with this:

Later, for another release I made this:

TV ident

One assignment I had in the university was to create a bunch of TV idents…using ONLY Adobe After Effects! That was a nightmare, since I had zero experience using it.

The highlight of the project is the creative aspect. I got to create anything I wanted to promote a network (unofficially). I chose NHK, the Japanese one, since not only is it only 3 letters long, this network is known for a huge variety of quirkiness.

So here are the storyboards from those idents I made. Yea, I know they don’t look professional at all. But the goal for me was to create a story in a quickest way possible.

One of the meanest things I made during middle school (grade 8-9) was my infamous comic series. Starring my classmate.

He was this snobby kid who also stood out because of his trademark suitcase he brought with him to school everyday.

Even though a lot of the kids in my class thought the comic was a brilliant idea, I did apologize to the guy in the end.

I don’t think I should post the rest as it may be too gross.

There was another comic series starring a bully-type classmate. He was the tallest and fattest guy in our class, who could care less if his nasty behaviur offends anyone. He liked getting into both small and big fights.

Again, I should not post the rest of this.

Basically, at the time I was going through some dark times. But I guess I never forgot how to turn something into humour, no matter how tasteless it may be.

I was going through a very uncomfortable time during puberty. Both the middle school life and events at home were turning me into a very different person. Thus I was becoming more and more cynical, temperamental and incredibly lonely. Suicidal thoughts were also very common from the age of 13.

I could not live safely in the world so ugly and unfair. It seemed like the only way to survive was to blend in with the rest of the mean-spirited crowd.

So I became a class caricaturist.

After the 5th grade one franchise made a huge revolution in my life, and it was none other than Pokemon. I was so obsessed that I was collecting everything there was to collect that had those Japanese creatures on it. Games, stickers, cards, toys, figurines etc.

I was a huge fan of Pokemon at the time, and all the other cartoon characters from before were basically vanished from my life completely. This was my introduction to the Japanese animation too, as all the other series I was watching during the time were anime.

Actually, Digimon have been also taking a lot of my attention. I was also playing the games, watching the TV series, collecting merchandise, and of course drawing my own imaginary Digimon friends.

But really, middle school life was very hectic for me so I had very little free time. My classmates were not interested in cartoons anymore so I didn’t have anyone to share my cartoons with. That’s why games were replacing my drawing ritual. They became my quick and easy escape from reality.
